NEXT RIDE ...... DEAL'S GAP!!

June 14

Join us on a ride to Deal's Gap, NC for a ride on The Tail of the Dragon on Saturday, June 14.  We will meet at our Standard Start Location at 9:00 am for an all day ride of scenery, twists and turns.  Please make note of the following tips to prepare yourself for the long ride.

Tip #1 Have tires aired up, general maintenance kept up on your bike.

Tip #2 Bring along bottled water, maybe some nutrition bars etc...

Tip #3 Carry some cash. Some gas stops in the mountains do not accept plastic. Some do but lose that ability when it rains (no kidding)

Tip #4 Bring a set of raingear, you never know when it will hit us.

Tip #5 Bring your helmet, we will be travelling through GA, NC and into TN on this trip.

This will be a full days ride! Route will be 28 up to the resort. We will plan to gas up near 28/107 split, and again near Luada, where 70/28 are together for a bit. We can probably run through the Dragon and back to Luada without a gas stop. We can ride 441 down to Clayton for an easier ride home, unless we are all enjoying the twisties.

Help Our Chapter Grow

In an effort to help our chapter grow and to initiate more participation we ask each of our members to try and recruit at least one new member in the next 4 weeks.  All you have to do is tell others about us and give them the website information so they can sign up.  We have also designed an informative flyer that you can print out and take to different bike shops or any place where bikers hang out.  To receive a copy of that click here .... Chapter Flyer.  We will also have informational business cards designed for you to print as well.  Business cards are easy to carry with you and when you see other bikers you can simply hand them one.  To get the business card layout email oconeeofficers@yahoo.com.

Tech Tip for the Week

How to Service Motorcycle Steering-Head Bearings

Aside perhaps from tires, no other component affects your motorcycle's steering and handling more than the bearings inside the bike's steering head, where the fork meets the frame. Ignore them at your own peril or read on to learn how to get at, service, grease, and, if necessary, replace them. From the October 2005 issue of Motorcycle Cruiser magazine. By Mark Zimmerman.
